Slovenské elektrárne has successfully completed the commissioning of Unit 3 at the Mochovce nuclear power plant, marking a major milestone for Slovakia’s energy independence and decarbonization efforts.

Following a 144-hour trial run at full reactor power, the unit confirmed its design parameters and safety.
The new reactor, with an installed capacity of 471 MW, will cover about 13% of Slovakia’s total electricity consumption, helping the country achieve near energy self-sufficiency. The project involved years of testing and collaboration among generations of nuclear experts, ensuring the highest safety and reliability standards.
Work is also progressing on Unit 4, which has entered the hot hydro test phase – the final major step before fuel loading and startup. Once both units are operational, Mochovce 3 and 4 will together provide 26% of Slovakia’s electricity, all produced without direct CO₂ emissions.
These milestones reinforce Slovenské elektrárne’s role as a key contributor to Europe’s clean, secure, and sustainable energy future.
